Our History

The Canterbury Canine Obedience Club has a rich history spanning over six decades of service to dog owners in Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region.

1958

Club Founded

The Canterbury Canine Obedience Club was formed by a group of enthusiastic dog owners.

1958

First Training Classes

The club held its first training classes at the old A & P Show grounds.

1959

Deans Avenue

The club moved to Deans Avenue for training.

Nov 1959

Lincoln Road Grounds

Officially opened its grounds at 82 Lincoln Road, Christchurch, where it became very well known.

May 1982

Marylands Reserve

The Club moved to its present site on Marylands Reserve as the tenant of the Waimairi District Council (now part of the Christchurch City Council area), who gave the Club considerable help in re-siting.

Present

Validation Park

The club continues to operate at 19 Birmingham Drive, Middleton, offering a full range of training programs and competitions.

The First 30 Years
